Thank you for stopping by
to hear my story!
I’ve always been drawn to birth. As a kid, when I would stay home sick, I would watch “A Baby Story” on TLC. (Shout-out to that show for showing birth in a way that wasn’t scary!) But, I was never sure how to fit that passion into my life, other than maybe being a mom someday. So I pursued a career in healthcare that would allow me to be creative, compassionate, and an advocate.
Just after I graduated with my Master’s of Occupational Therapy, a family member invited me to attend the birth of her third baby. It was an incredible and powerful experience. I left absolutely hooked on the magic of birth. Shortly after, I started working as an Early Intervention OT, which brought me in to the homes of newly postpartum moms. Seeing the lack of support and the lingering effect of a traumatic birth on both mother and baby, further fueled my passion for birth support.
I started researching Doula trainings and I stumbled upon Maven in my research, a telehealth start-up that helps families achieve all of their family planning and health goals! I started working there as a Care Advocate in October 2020. I had the honor of meeting with hundreds of individuals and partners that are expecting and/or postpartum, from all over the world! I was immersed in the birth world in a unique way and I had access to so many Doula mentors. I realized there was no more time to waste on my path to becoming a Doula! I completed my training in April and started attending births right away.
In 2023 I gave birth myself. My daughter was determined to make me a better Doula, so I had a little sampling of all the things throughout my birth. I have since made my role as a birth Doula, Childbirth Educator, and Postpartum Support person; my full time job. It is the greatest privilege of my life to be a part of so many birth journeys in a variety of ways.
